Fact
Sheet
These
mountainous regions, located in the Federal District

territory, that is to say, just 8.5% of the national
surface, but include 44% of the country's total
population. Almost it’s whole 21,644 sq. Kms. The
central section of the Coast Cordillera between the
Nirgua Massif and the Unare Depression comprises
surface. The local disparities are expressed in the
contrasting landscapes, where a peculiar topography
and changing human characteristics can be
appreciated.
The
altitude of these landscapes permits the formation
of several thermic floors, which are not as plenty
as the Andean ones; but, nevertheless, make possible
the development of isothermal temperate climates
with an abundant rainfall, excepting the dry season
period. The climate is warmer in the most depressed
zones. At the coast, the characteristics of the
xerophytic vegetation in La Guaira contrast with the
ones of the humid and warm environment of the
Barlovento depression.
